4wd Problems, relays, switch, testing servo, need a servo motor? Look here

I just launched a new site that deals with all and any problems with the 4wd system on Yamahas. I have how to videos for testing the servo, disassembling the servo, replacing and purchasing the servo (motor only), testing relays, and testing the push button switch.
I also have a link to download the 4wd testing portion of the service manual.

Updated 4wd Troubleshooting page Troubleshooting | 501 Parts.com Yamaha 4wd System Repair Parts & Service

Let me know if I can help.

Had a few folks asking about 2013's and 14's that are out of warranty. I do have motors for those as well.

Hi oldblue22, You seem to have a considerable knowledge with this...hoping you can help.

History - Fall 2014 - Swamped by 660 Grizz in Frozen lake,10 feet of water. Sat for 1 hour until tractor arrived to hook it. Immeditely stuck it on it rear end...drained water.

Next day, in garage, drained engine oil 6 times, oil filter 3 times. Clean plug, air box, drained fuel. 1 can seafrom.Drove it for 40 kms..4X4 and diff locks working fine. minor spitting.(Water)....parked garage, drained front and rear diff.

Feb 2015....started ..1 more can seafoam. drove ....display not showing 4x4 or diff icon. 4x4 or diff not engaging....diff icon does flash along with red light.

Disconnected and sprayed all plugs. check fuses and relays.

Where do I begin.

Thanks..

The first thing I would try would be to start checking everything 4wheel drive related. First, check your fuse and make sure it's not blown. Then start with your servomotor, unbolted from the front differential, proceed to test it with 2C batteries. Next, test all three relays you should have two black ones and one white one. Next check your switch and ensure that it is operating correctly, I have videos on testing all of these components on my website at www.501parts.com. You shouldn't be able to find your problem between these tests, but if not we can proceed further. I wouldn't be surprised if your display has water in it so this may cause problems with your indicator lights. Being how it was underwater so long I would remove all electric connections and fill with dielectric grease just for good practice. See what you find out after doing all of this and let me know what you find, I can help you further if needed.

I have a 2014 550 and the 4wd will just kick in or off when it wants to...it also decreases my speed...I occasionally go under water. Should I completely seal the 4wd plug?

4wd engaging on and off on it's own

hey,

I have a grizzly 550 2014, few weeks ago, i noticed that as soon as i turn the key on, (not the engine) i can hear the servo motor kick in and engage the 4wd, i even saw once where it engaged the 4wd + full lock.

as i am driving along, the 4wd kicks on and off whenever it wants, so for now, i am leaving the button to 4wd position.

went to the dealer last week, i am out of warranty, so... they said they would probably have to replace the whole servo kit and buttons, etc. i am skeptical..

help would be appreciated, a service manual (not the owners one) would be really great too if it's possible, looked all over
