I have a 1998 Yamaha Grizzly 600 YFM600FWA 4WV5-010 here which I believe has the Miknuni Corp BST40/1 4WV 00 carby. The bike is in some disrepair and has come to me not with starting and idling issues (I found the inlet valve clearances to be way out). While doing this I've observed that the air intake and carby setup has been fiddled with and seems to have been left with some items potentially not as they should be. The Service Manual provides limited guidance:
There are five hoses off the carby.
On the right side (right side being your right when sitting on the bike seat facing forward) there is two hoses:
A big black right angle hose (shown as number 1 Air vent hose in the bottom diagram). It goes to a hard plastic piece which seems to have a screen/filter inside it and then some melted foam. I wondered if this should actually connect up to the crank case breather?
near the bottom is a much smaller black hose with an adapter on the end to fit to a larger size.
On the left there is two hoses - both are shown in the second diagram above but not labeled or showing where they go to on the non-carry end:
The top on is an L-shaped black hose
The lower one is mid level on the carby and connects to an offset hose barb.
On the bottom there is:
One clear (old now yellowed) hose from the centre of the carb bowl. I believe this should just dangle down somewhere out of the way.
There is also:
The two black breather tubes running to this area from the rear diff and rear brakes
and the engine crank case breather tube:
Does the engine crankcase breather connect to the air filter housing lid?
Anyone able to advise what should go where please to help me out in reassembling this all correctly?
