Thanks for your interest.

Sweet!
How soon will they be available for purchase? I am ready to buy some tires...
Looking forward to hearing the specs and seeing some pics of the finished product.

Good review, and if you want the weight of the tires just put the whole thing on a scale and subtract

Hmmm....
Not really seeing that myself. Sure at first glance they look similar, but once I really look at these tires close, aside from the cross bar design they are different than the Bighorns. I should know, I have owned 5 sets, and currently have a test set in the shop now. Just seems like DWT took an already proven design and improved it more.
Like Butch and DWT said, they are a test design and not the final product. To me, the MOAPA tires look to be a better tire even though they are not a radial. To which I am not sold on the whole bias ply/radial thing.
If these tires have been improved, well that is going to be a great tire. I am personally looking forward to see what DWT Racing puts out in the coming months.

One thing I noticed is that the face of the Moapa tires are much more square than the BH's thus giving a wider footprint on the ground. Although, in general, I'm a definite radial fan, as long as the sidewalls react properly for the tire profile and do not roll under excessively with lateral stress (like hard turns), then the bias/radial issue is, well, not an issue. The BH's are a proven design and, IF DWT can take the good design aspects and produce a tire that improves on them, then that's what you call an advancement. I am looking forward to Butch's low-pressure tests and more information on the final version.

My exact thoughts. The only radials I have rode were Grim Reapers and my Zillas do a better job on these trails then they did except for the comfort factor. I know Big Horns are great tires and may be the best tire for riding those west coast rocks and I considered buying them for the longest time but I have heard from alot of East Coast guys about their shortcomings on these types of trails. And Yes they do have some. The one that sticks out the most to me and was probrably why I never bought them was their traction...or lack of in off camber situations where the terrain is loose rock, leaves or even just wet dirt. I think Gary would even say they slide a bit sideways in these circumstances. The Moapa test tires showed no signs of this and wether its' due to them being Bias Ply or just the fact that their tread pattern and spacing was designed for it, it doesn't matter to me cause all I know is they are a great tire for my trails.

Those Mopa's in your review are a GBC Dirt Tamer knockoff. These tires are likely made by GBC. The Diablo beadlocks are an awesome looking rim!!!!
