Default Troubleshooting warn winch xt25 install

I installed my new want xt25 on my grizzly 700 and when I start the grizz and try the winch, nothing happens. No click or action on the winch.

what is the quickest way to troubleshoot with it installed and contactor plate on the rear of the winch mount?

Some things mentioned in other posts:

-is there a bolt I need to remove from the xt25? ( I did not see an extraneous bolt.)
- what is the best way to test my red wire splice?

Other suggestions?

Arghhh!

Did you hook the small red wire to the key switch wire?

I followed ignition wiring to a harness. disconnected and ran red wire in to harness and snapped it back together. Hooked wire into the pink and blue wire side. But this on a grizz 350 no instrumentation.

Yes, using the blue splicing connector provided. Spliced into the brown and white lead next to the green wire. Any idea how to check if the splice connection is tight?

Do you have a test light with a sharp pointed end on it?

I have one that has a sharp pointed end with an alligator clip that extends off it via a wire. Of course no documentation on it anymore. I also have a multimeter.

Do you think either would work or do I need another tool (-;

No the test light will do. Clip the alligator clip on the negative side of the battery, Turn the key (on the Bike) to the on (Not Run) position, follow the red wire to the switch, physically push the test light (sharp end) into the wire anywhere you can get to the wire easily . Be sure not to push it all the way through. The test light should light up if the wire is making a good connection. Also the light should go out when you turn the key off. This will tell you if the splice is making a good connection. When done recover the hole on the wire where the test light went in with electrical tape!
