Default warn winch install

Guys- I read through a bunch of posts and did not find what I needed.

In the directions it says to remove bottom tie bolt. What is this?? Where is this?

its the thin long plillips head bolt at the bottom of the spool that looks like it connects both sides of the winch.

Why do you have to remove that?

You shouldn't have to remove any bolts from the winch itself. Mount it to the mounting plate and then to the quad.

In the directions it tells you to remove the bolt during your install. If you look at the bottom of the winch you will see the small bolt going from one side to the other about 3/16ths in diameter. Don't know why they tell you to remove it but thats what it says.

I'm going to remove it. Not sure why. Winch is mounted so hopefully I can get to it. Does not look like a through bolt. Can't find a nut on the other side. Must go into female threads.

I didn't remove anything to install mine... maybe it's different on the Warn XT-30?
I can't see what advantage there would be in taking out the Bottom Tie Bolt unless it was in the way of mounting the winch to the mounting plate.

It is the only phillips head brass bolt on the winch. Yes, it does have female threads.
