S&W does make the "J" Frame with internal DAO hammer:
I pocket carry this one and use it as a BUG.
It also has Laser Grips and a Big Dot front sight.

I personally prefer a revolver with Sa/Da - not DAO - but that's just me!

I would say the same as the rest it would be best to take her to a shop and see what shes more comfortable with. My father in law done this a few months back my mother in law had held his auto and liked it till they went to a shop and she ended up being more comfortable handling a revolver and they ended up with a ruger lcr. MZGrizz keeps my ruger P97 45 in her nightstand but we all know shes not the typical female. LOL
